Need Play Shapes!

It was time to play with Cameron again when I got home from work, definitely a needed treat after today's day at work.  Cameron has had this set of blocks for almost a year but really has not played with them much, so it was fun to watch him totally get into them. He especially liked putting the smaller shape blocks into the bigger box blocks. He knows all the colors, shapes, numbers and objects on the blocks.  When Kelly got here to pick him up he had a little bit of a meltdown and all the way out to the car he cried "Need play shapes, need play shapes!"

January 4 - Long Day

Today I drove to work instead of riding the vanpool ( I will have to do a post on that!) because I am behind on work because of my vacation and all the work that still needs to be done for our Magnet sight visit in a couple of weeks.  I stayed at work until 7:20 and it is about a 40 minute drive home without traffic. So this is when I got home.

It was a good but long and busy day, and I just had a quick
bite for lunch at my desk, so I was hungry. I hadn't planned to eat much as I still need to make some scones to take in for a staff meeting in the morning.  The house smelled good and then I noticed a bag on the counter.  This is what was in it.

Orange Chicken from Panda Express. How thoughtful was that?

January 3-Back to Work

Today was back to work day, I have been off since Christmas Eve. I love having the holidays off, and having a job that actually encourages it. Those of us who have careers that require you work any of the 365 days of the year get used to working holidays. I have gotten very used to not working them since I have been away from the bedside as a nurse.

Since I spend so much of my life at work, and have been a nurse for so long, everyday moments would not be complete if I did not include moments from work.  I work at a hospital that is seeking Magnet designation-the top "certification" for nursing at a hospital. We will be having our site visit later this month.  I have a nurse on the unit I manage who is our "magnet energizer" Her name is Mimi and she has been a nurse for 3 years.  She designed this magnet board to help get our unit ready for the survey. She is an inspiration to me, she has such high standards, is so enthusiastic, and is very committed to being the very best nurse she can be. The board is all about all the amazing nurses that work on our unit.

On the home front-I love when I come and Cameron is still there entertaining Grampy. As much as I love my work right now, I cannot wait to be home.  Seeing Cameron and hearing his little 2 yr old voice is very special after a long work day.  Tonight he had spilled a little water from the water dispenser on the frig.  He demonstrates what a responsible toddler he is by wiping the water up, "clean up water, Grampy?'

The Christmas tree is down, but I am still collecting all the other stuff.  One of Cameron's favorites is my Jingle Bell Rock Santa. ( I am a product of the '50s after all!) He and I would dance to it when he turned it on.  Grampy caught us as our dance was ending tonight. It will be time for Santa to be packed up till December in the next few days.
Cameron is very snuggly when he dances with you.

Tree Takedown Day

Wonky star, lights burning out-out with the tree!

Will be replacing the tree lights next year
I very reluctantly take down Christmas decorations. I love to extend the season and it is a lot of work too! But tomorrow is trash day, and it is back to work for me after a nice 10-day vacation.  January will be a very busy month at work as well. So down came the tree. It was still so fresh this year.

I do love how clean the house looks after everything is put away. That will not be happening today :-)

January 1

George and I got to (yes got to!!!) watch Cameron last night while Kelly and Caleb went to a party. We had lots of fun with him today since they did not pick him up til after lunch.  Here he is thinking he is invisible and trying to check out Grampy's new Kindle.

Project 365 and Blog Novice

I have decided to start a Project 365 blog. I have enjoyed reading Kim's and keeping up on the little everyday things that happen and that are so hard to keep up on, especially when we are so far apart. I also thought it might be a great way to motivate me to keep up on other projects as well. So here goes!
